The health and wellbeing of our patients and that of the wider community remains our primary concern. We are committed to reduce transmission, protect the NHS, and ultimately save lives.
As of the Prime Minister’s address on 23rd March 2020 we suspended all normal bookings and instead have been offering online teleappointments by videolink for patients who still need help.
We are very sympathetic that many patients are suffering in severe pain or may have a recurrence of their symptoms. As of Monday 27th April we will be running online videolink clinics on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, and delivering face to face appointments in the afternoons, where appropriate. This change is both to support the ongoing effort to continue to provide essential patient care and to reduce the demand to GP services and secondary care.
The triage videolink appointment will enable us to do one of the following:
a) provide a remote treatment in the form of advice and exercise prescription, which will support you in your efforts to self-manage your symptoms at home,
b) offer a face to face appointment to provide osteopathic treatment to those with urgent care needs, which if not met, will require care from General Practice, secondary care or social care agencies; or to allow diagnosis which cannot be determined remotely. These appointments will be offered on the same day as your videolink appointment and will carried out in accordance with the current PPE requirements and Infection Prevention Control Guidance. Normal appointment fees will apply.
c) refer you onwards to your GP/walk in clinic/A&E.
More information about the triage system can be found in the flowchart below. This flowchart is in line with current NHS guidance and provided by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists for healthcare professionals operating in private practice. More information from our regulator the General Osteopathic Council can be found here.
Please note that it is our intention to manage the vast majority of patients seeking help by teleappointment treatments. Please do not be disappointed if you are not offered a face to face appointment. If you are offered a face-to-face appointment it will carried out in accordance to the current PPE requirements and infection prevention and control guidance.
