Key points:
Masks are no longer required but can be worn on request. On 27th May 2022 the UK Health Security Agency updated the Covid-19 Information and advice for health and care professionals which removed the requirement for mask wearing by patients and practitioners.
We will continue to offer online appointments and in-clinic appointments so that all patients can access care.
Our infection control procedures
We have infection control procedures in place to minimise transmission as much as possible. These procedures follow the National infection prevention and control manual for England
Our standard infection control procedures and transmission based precautions are in place to:
reduce infections in the clinic. We ask kindly patients with current infectious symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, an unexplained rash, fever or respiratory symptoms to not attend their appointment.
ensure good hand hygiene of both practitioners and patients. We use gloves in clinic, wash our hands regularly, and encourage visiting patients to use hand sanitiser.
promote respiratory and cough hygiene helping those by providing patients with tissues, bins for used tissues, and hand hygiene facilities as necessary.
utilise appropriate Personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure patient and staff safety while avoiding unenvironmental wastage through overuse. Fluid resistant masks are now only required during sterile procedures such as surgery, or to protect the wearer when there is a risk splashing or spraying of blood, body fluids, secretions or excretions onto the respiratory mucosa.
ensure safe management of the care environment: We have maintained the frequency of cleaning at the clinic to include daily cleaning of toilets and carpets, and sessional disinfection of the clinic floors and frequently touched hard surfaces in accordance with the National Cleaning Standards. There is good ventilation at the clinic.
ensure safe management of care equipment: We use disposable single-use items where appropriate. Couches and vinyl pillows are disinfected after each patient.
ensure safe management of healthcare linen. All linens including couch covers, face cushions and examination gowns are still not in use.
ensure safe management of blood and body fluids to prevent transmission of blood borne viruses. We have procedures in place and staff are trained accordingly.
ensure safe disposal of waste. We have waste disposal procedures in place with Initial to remove hazardous waste in sharps bins, and Biffa to remove paper waste. We try to reduce plastic waste where possible.
promote occupational safety by managing prevention of exposure and maintaining procedures
